🌓 How do we heal, together?

MONTHLY HEALING CIRCLES centering self-identified BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) women, queer, femmes and gender non-binary folks.

The intention for our circles is to co-create a sacred, supportive circle to see and be seen as we navigate the path of healing, wholeness, and truth.

Each month we host 2-3 hour healing circles online and in person with themes such as “Strength, Softness & Sensuality,” “Ancestral Healing,” “Self Love & Forgiveness” or “Exploring Our Body Stories”. Our circles typically include a mix of movement, meditation, meaningful conversation, art-therapy practices, and journaling.

No prior experience needed to join, only a heartfelt desire to grow and heal together. Receive invites to future circles via our mailing list above!

What Sisters Are Saying

“I am so thankful have been surrounded by such a supportive group of folks this past year. There was a lot of uncertainty and major shifts happening in my life and SOUL’s healing circles definitely kept me grounded and connected to community during that time. I’m so grateful to have been a part of the mutual healing process. Thank you and all of the folks in the circle for sharing your wisdom, good vibes, and love.”

— Sienna R.

“The WoC Circle came into my life right when I needed it. I was seeking a space where I could be in communion with other WoC committed to healing and personal growth. The diverse activities allow for multiple ways to engage, leading to insights that have accelerated my inner work. The Circle is a restorative community of empathetic witnesses where self-expression, compassion, and our whole selves are valued, and it has since become a monthly ritual to support my emotional and spiritual well-being.”

— Cassie Z.

“In the sky of uncertainties and grief, SOUL’s women of color healing circles were the shining Northstar that brought a creative and safe space to my life. I was able to drop in and soak up the joy of connection with the other women and femexx of color from all walks of life. We laughed, we cried, we danced. We looked at the stars, the healing herbs and overall femifested our dreams. I highly recommend this community.”

— Shabnam S.

August 2021 Circle: "Love & Liberation"

AUGUST’S THEME: Love & Liberation

This month’s circle was the first in person circle since COVID! We gathered at the S.O.U.L. (School of Unconditional Love) Launch Party! S.O.U.L. serves as a global healing platform centering BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) offering educational courses, transformational coaching, and beloved community gatherings to support people to live liberated, love-filled lives.

Together under the full moon in Aquarius, we circled around the theme of love and liberation and redefined what it means to us. We explored the framework, “Know Yourself, Trust Yourself, Love Yourself” 9which is a part of SOUL’s Love & Liberation course) by journaling on the following reflection questions, what do I know to be true about myself? What am I learning to trust in myself? What am I learning to love about myself?

From there we got into groups of three to share, hold space and witness one another’s journey’s. Full moons are all about amplification, expansion and completion so together we magnified our individual and collective healing.

What a special way to launch SOUL! Thank you to all the women, femmes and gender nc friends who joined us!

July 2021 Circle: "Roses, Romance & Radical Self Love"

JULY'S THEME: Roses, Romance and Radical Self Love

Love is in the air! Join us for date night, complete with roses, romance, and radical self love.

Together, we will take ourselves “out” by going “in” and discover ways to cultivate a strong sense of self-awareness and appreciation of who we already are. A new romance begins right here, with you and within you!

As we tap into our inner confidence and connection with self, we will access our innate wisdom and radical joy. From that place we may attract love in abundance and long term healthy relationships across the board. It is our life and we do not need anyone's permission to live it fully!

With both Venus and Mars visible in the sky, let's bring these two halves of our hearts into harmony and wholeness together. This will also be during the full moon in Aquarius, which reminds us that we are part of something greater than ourselves, and that acting on our ideas, ideals (and cultivating a high octane of self love) will benefit everyone.

Full moons are all about amplification, expansion and completion. We’ll lean into this powerful energy to do our individual and collective healing together!

Date night is for all of us, so let’s enjoy it amongst soul family :)

June 2021 Circle: "Transforming in the Seasons of Self Love"

Together on June’s full moon we explored the topic: “Transforming in the Seasons of Self-Love”.

In this month’s soul circle visited the sacred practice and ceremony of self-love. Through that lens we will explored questions such as:

What are the false narratives our shadow selves are teaching us about self-love? How does judgment, criticism and perfectionism limit us from experiencing self-love? And how might we cultivate self-love with our ancestry in the transformation of seasons?

Together, we collectively accessed the wisdom of what being women, femmes, queer, and gender non-binary people of color means as we reflected on the stories we tell ourselves.

Full moons are all about amplification, expansion and completion. This particular full moon in Capricorn comes at a time of culmination and fulfillment that was started during the Gemini New Moon on June 10th, an emotional moment of romance to prepare to plant ourselves to bloom in relationships with ourselves and others. Together we leaned into this energy to do our individual and collective healing together surrounded by the loving, healing, heart opening magic of our beloved community.

She gives gratitude everyday to her yoga and meditation practice for continuing to inform her healing journey and for saving her life - mind, body, and spirit.

Off the mat Sonia is a change agent in higher education with 10+ years of experience in student and academic affairs. In her former role, she incorporated holistic wellness in academic advising to first-generation, low-income, and disabled students to empower their own interpersonal development and holistic self-healing & self-care as a part of their academic wellbeing. Her current passion projects is writing her first book manuscript (nonfiction/memoir) about her journey breaking the cycle of historical generational trauma of her family’s story and their contributions in Mexican American herstory in the early Civil Right era. That journey began in earnest when she started meditating in the Buddhist tradition at the East Bay Meditation Center and practicing yoga focused on holding space for, and nourishing, people of color.

A common theme throughout Mona’s life has been her dedication to use her knowledge to unveil and invite positive change into the lives of those living at the margins of our society. As an attorney she has worked on behalf of immigrants of color and incarcerated people. As an educator, her work has centered on ensuring that immigrants and refugees enjoy a safe environment in which to learn English and acclimate to their new lives in the U.S.

Currently, Mona’s interests are focused on dismantling systems that criminalize and incarcerate youth.

May 2021 Circle: "Exploring Your Body Story "

MAY’s THEME: Exploring Your Body Story

Our bodies take on so much. The thoughts of the collective, shame, guilt. But also joy, pleasure, and healing too. Have you given your body the space to tell her story?

Join us as we explore the theme of “Body Connection + Storytelling” on May’s Full Moon (the flowering moon). We will collectively access the wisdom of what being women, femmes, queer, and gender non-binary people of color mean as we reflect on the stories we are telling ourselves about our body.

Full moons are all about amplification, expansion and completion. We’ll use the energy to do our individual and collective healing together surrounded by the loving, healing, heart opening magic of beloved community.

May’s full moon circle was held with so much wisdom, love and care by @smdmontoya 🧘🏽‍♀️and @natorozco 🧘🏻‍♀️. Together, they guided us on a journey of exploring our relationships with our bodies which was incredibly healing ✨🙏🏽✨

Journaling on the questions: when does your body feel pleasure? how do you know when you’re embodying joy? And what nourishes + energized your body? 📖 Examining the false stories and narratives we tell ourselves and transforming those thoughts into beautiful Body Affirmations was so powerful and inspiring ✨🙌🏽✨!

Hearing four different womxn step into their Queendom as they read “Phenomenal Women” by Maya Angelou set my heart ablaze 🔥 with such pride in being womxn.

Big gratitude to the womxn who joined us and to Natalie, Sonia and Jyo for holding it down 🙏🏽 Team work makes the dream work! Love youuuuuu!

April 2021 Circle: "Love as Liberation"

BIWOC love as liberation (8).png

APRIL’S THEME: LOVE AS LIBERATION

Life is a series of love stories so what is the love story that is shaping or sculpting you now? 💗

Together, on the night of the full moon in Gemini (a super pink moon), we explored the theme of “Love as Liberation” where we will collectively accessed the power of universal love and asked our hearts, what within us needs to be liberated still? What is the love story we’re ready to let go of? and what’s the love story we’re calling in?

Full moons are all about amplification, expansion and completion so together we magnified our individual and collective healing. We journaled, had meaningful conversations and wrote a collective “I am poem”

It felt so nourishing to do this healing work surrounded by the loving and heart opening magic of beloved womxn of color community.

What Sisters Are Saying

“After attending a WOC full moon circle with Lotus, I knew I would be back for more. Lotus and the sisters in circle offered such beautiful, loving, gentle, and safe space. I hadn't attended many circles and if you haven't done so, you will not be disappointed by these unique, heartfelt offerings. I highly recommend taking the time to resource yourself in the company of fierce, yet tender in heart women. This is true healing. No code-switching. Pure, embracing community.”

— Amabel N.

On the path toward self development there are many tools you can use. Being in circle is a beautiful experience. The journey with other women of color in particular was a way to process the external trauma of 2020 in a safe space with other women of color who were experiencing life in similar ways. I witnessed our beginning as individuals, metamorphose into a sisterhood. We held one another’s experience with support and encouragement along the way. It’s a beautiful journey to behold and be part of and I was able to explore and get to know my emotional self in a deeper way.”

— Joann W.

“"I first met Lotus on social media and was drawn to her because of her aesthetic and open-hearted personality. In my time with her this last year I can say she has a way of creating immense beauty and flow in her life and in her offerings.

I was drawn to participate in her women of color healing circles because they are based in Oakland and I needed a place to be in a decolonized space with a feminine community.  I was impressed with her ability to hold space, create a deep container of wide experiences, and bring together such powerful and inspiring women.

I felt connected to myself, connected to a community, and empowered as a woman of color when leaving her circles.

I’d recommend Lotus as a facilitator and space holder to spiritual women looking for a deep dive into their self-awareness, a space to rest from the power structures that tell us we are small, and a place to find and thrive in community. "

From the November 2020 Circle: "Being is Enough"

Sometimes it feels like no matter how much we do, how much we give, or how much we achieve, it’s never enough.

Like a pre-programmed plague that causes great harm and dis-ease, we live in a society with systems and structures designed to keep us from locating our center, living our truth, remembering our innate enoughness and loving ourselves fully.

On November 11, 2020, we held sacred circle to reclaim our sovereignty and step into our more than enoughness. We began by dropping into our bodies through mindful movement and meditation guided by yoga instructor, Mona Mabengi Williams.

IMG_0248.jpeg

From there explored our own definitions of enoughness through storytelling, community dialogue, and meaningful connection. When we come together in sacred circle to hold and be held by one another, something special happens...we begin to feel the loving, nourishing, sometimes soft, sometimes strong energy of healing. From that place we can finally exhale.

To me, self love and healing is not a destination, it’s a source of power and purpose in life. For many of us, women and people of color especially, the healing journey can feel long and ardous. But somehow, by sharing our stories and doing the work in realtime, we can grow, heal and flourish together.

From there we tapped into the radical wisdom of two of our favorite teachers: Sonya Renee Taylor and her book, “The Body is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self Love” and Tara Brach’s book, “Radical Compassion: Learning to Love Yourself and Your World with the Practice of RAIN“.

We concluded with a deeper heart-felt discussion and tool sharing to support each of us in cultivating and maintaining self love, self-compassion, and enoughness.

From the October 2020 Circle: "Self Care + Community Care"

In light of this trying time and our country seemingly falling apart, we ask, how are you taking care of yourself and those you care about?

In this circle, we focused on how we are showing up for ourselves so that we can be intentional about how we show up for others.

Inspired by the energies of the season and the wisdom of the stars, we were guided by Astrologer & Tarot Reader, Coryna Ogunseitan and Herbalist & Acupuncturist Mayssa Sultan.

Together, they weaved their unique gifts of elemental meditation, movement, meaningful dialogue, and an astrological reading of this time to support us in reclaiming our power and moving forward with as much ease, grace, and connection as possible.

From the September 2020 Circle: "Femifesting Our Dreams"

Amidst the world on fire…literally, I feel so much gratitude for the abundance of badass womxn in my life who are courageously pursuing their dreams.

It can feel risky to put your dreams out there let alone go for them. Stuff comes up around whether your dreams are feasible and whether you are worthy and deserving enough.

On Wednesday, September 9th, it was a great honor to bring together eighteen womxn of color and two spirit folx to learn about Femifestation, our unique power to attract and realize our desires and dreams.

Different than manifestation, femifestation leans into the lunar🌙 qualities of intuition, emotion, feeling, surrendering and receiving. Much like being pregnant, in femifestation we are pregnant with ideas that we want to co-create in the world.

Led by Lauren A. Wong and Regina Felice Garcia, we shared gratitudes, did embodied movement, dream visualization, affirmation creation and digital vision boarding. It was A LOT in two hours…but wow what a gift!

From our July 2020 Circle: "Ancestors & Descendants"

“When I rest, I feel my ancestors and descendants rejoicing.” ~ Lama Rod Owens

Our self care, liberation and healing is not just for us in this lifetime, it's for our ancestors and descendants (blood and spirit), seven generations back and seven generations forwards. What we do today has an impact on our kin for centuries to come.

So how might we lean into that awareness and intentionality now? How might we honor our past and co-create towards our collective future?

In July, emergent facilitators, storytellers, and healers, Jyo Maan and Lotus Wong co-facilitated a circle on "Ancestors & Descendants" with an intention to not just hold the circle but be IN the circle as well. The intimacy of the space allowed us to do just that and we felt strong ripples of healing in our bodies during and after the session.

Together, we shared group introductions with the prompts "I come from..." "I belong to..." and "My people are..." and discussed how it felt to intro ourselves from this intentional space. We took turns sharing objects and photos from our ancestors and we called them in one by one.

From there we went into movement and danced with our ancestors and descendants into the night! We closed in gratitude feeling connected, loved and supported by those who've come before us and those who will be our future legacy.

Thank you to the lovely souls who could join us and big love to all those who were with us in spirit! Together we raised $75 to support the Black Trans Fund.

From our June 2020 circle: “Heartbroken Heart Open”

In June, it was an honor to facilitate our sixth monthly Womxn of Color Healing circle, "HEARTBROKEN HEART OPEN" on healing individual and collective heartbreak with my beloved soul sister, movement teacher, light worker, fierce love warrior and holistic self healer, Sonia-Melitta Diaz Montoya.

When we experience heartbreak individually, it can quite literally feel like someone's taken a baseball bat and shattered your heart into a million pieces on the floor. While strong and resilient, the heart is also soft and vulnerable. Personal heartbreak is often a catalyst for spiritual growth.

As a collective, when we navigate collective heartache, it can feel heavy and exhausting. There is sadness, sorrow, grief, anger and rage especially right now. In society, we are not welcome to cry, scream and shake, this behavior is mislabeled as "crazy"...and yet we are sensory beings and somatic visceral primal movement is often what our bodies need most.

“We can learn how to use the mud and muck of our lives to wake up and grow. When it feels impossible, that is exactly the time when we need a fierce heart the most. Let it all burn in the cosmic fires, so you can forge your fierceness and grow stronger and wiser. No matter what you’ve been through, now is the starting point, so if you’re feeling hopeless or at a loss, please trust me when I say your greatest moments are yet to come.”

~ Spring Washam, A Fierce Heart

Together we co-created a sacred space to share heartache and tender moments through brave storytelling, collective witnessing, and dynamic movement. It was beautiful to simply be together tending to our hearts.

We discussed the immense capacity of the heart, both strong and resilient as well as soft and vulnerable. We heard stories of how personal heartbreak can be a catalyst for spiritual growth and transformation. We left feeling held, supported and reconnected with open hearts.

Thank you to all who could join us and big love and blessings to those who were with us in spirit! Together, we raised $125 to support a fundraiser by Dr. Tiffany Bowden for Culturally informed therapy for people of color.

From the May 2020 circle: "Strength, Softness, & Sensuality"

Sitting in the sweet softness of gratitude 🧘🏻‍♀️ this morning for this life-giving Womxn of Color healing circle Karmay Gorley of Gloetry Assembly LLC and I offered 💗.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The theme was "Strength, Softness & Sensuality" and we began with a guided Touch meditation from Karmay that helped us reconnect with our bodies. I guided a journaling practice where we redefined Strength, Softness & Sensuality for ourselves.

From there, we reflected on different archetypes and how each of those energies show up in balanced and imbalanced ways. We examined questions such as:

  • How does strength show up in your body, mind and soul?

  • How does sweet softness sing to your inner being?

  • And of course sensuality, how does that look, feel, smell, taste to you?

You see sensuality and sexuality are not the same thing. Sensuality is about being pleased by, fulfilled and in touch with all the senses! And to me sensuality is about being lusciously alive! I know with shelter in place and quarantine it hasn't been easy, so many of us miss human touch. So it was healing to love on ourselves a bit using an Awakening the Senses touch exercise led by Karmay.

People came in feeling drained, discombobulated and emotional and left feeling lighter, present and restored.

SO THANKFUL for the beautiful beings who joined us and for Karmay Gorley of Gloetry Assembly for co-creating with me as my longest time friend of 17 years and a women's circle space holder herself, it was so special to combine powers.

Lastly, a reminder to all: You are brave, you are beautiful, you are special. You matter. You are enough.

Reflection from our April 2020 circle: "Full Moon in Libra"

WOW - last night's Womxn of Color Circle "Full Moon Edition" was earth 🌳, water 💧, fire 🔥, air 🌬, ether🌕...it was everythang!

So grateful for the eighteen womxn who joined us with their presence, truth and open hearts! Together, we had a beautiful moon meditation and explored the cosmic system of astrology and divination guided by our in circle astrologer, Coryna Ogunseitan of Good Spirits Astrology.

We learned more about how this particular Libra moon is influencing us energetically and emotionally. Libra is an Air sign located in the Heart Chakra that has an eye for curating art + beauty, associated with the planet Venus.

Libra also represents structure and Coryna offered us the following journaling prompts:

1.) What’s the most beautiful thing you’ve seen today? What was beautiful about it?
2.) Who are some artists or creators whose work you find curative or healing?
3.) What are ways that we can incorporate more structure into our lives to support ourselves?

Finally, we closed with an Elements Dance, four groups one for earth, water, fire, and air. Each Goddess was placed in the element they resonate with most and we danced in the moonlight or maybe the zoomlight lol with a curated song to match.

We were also able to donate $150 to a Safety Fund for Survivors of Domestic Violence which has increased since covid.

So grateful for the generosity shared and our time together. I LOVED IT and feel I am living my purpose so clearly in this healing circle. Thank you all and see you soon.

From our March 2020 circle: “Self Love & Forgiveness”

“It is in the nature of worried minds to shrink, of generous hearts to expand.” ~ Sahajananda ♥️

Despite everything, my heart is feeling full from hosting our Womxn of Color Healing Circle ⭕️ pre-covid a couple weeks back. After such a special evening of togetherness, who knew we’d be quarantined two days later?

On that night we courageously shared our journeys of self love & healing over a delicious Korean family style dinner.

From there we wrote ourselves self love letters 💌 on beautiful handmade paper with water colors and art supplies. A new practice for most but one that was valuable for all. We took turns sharing passages of what we wrote to ourselves and ended in a gratitude circle!

What a gift to share space with each of you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 It’s become even more precious with these unprecedented times.

Thank you to each loving soul who joined us for this in person circle. Many blessings during this challenging time. Stay safe, be well.

See you online for next circle!
